Jennifer R. Olbum, D.O.
Dr. Jennifer R. Olbum is a local ophthalmologist who specializes in diagnosis and treatment of retinal disease. An ophthalmologist is a physician who has special training in the medical and surgical care of the eyes and visual system and in the prevention of eye disease and injury. They provide a full spectrum of care including routine eye exams, diagnosis and medical treatment of eye disorders and diseases, prescriptions for eyeglasses, surgery, and management of eye problems that are caused by systemic illnesses. Ophthalmologists can be medical doctors (M.D.) or doctors of osteopathy (D.O.).
After an undergraduate B.S. degree in Psychology, she entered the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine where she received her D.O. degree in 1988. After a medical internship at the Detroit Osteopathic Hosptial, she began her specialty training in eye disease at the Chicago Osteopathic Hospital in 1989. After graduating from that residency program, she began a fellowship in retinal diseases from which she graduated in 1993. She is a diplomate of the American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Osteopathic College of Ophthalmology and Otorhinolaryngology, the American Osteopathic Association, and the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association.
Dr. Olbum has written several scientific papers on eye disease and often is asked to speak to both medical and lay groups about retinal disease. She has privledges at Sewickley Valley Hospital and The Medical Center in Beaver County. She is associated with Dr. Daniel Nadler who offices are located in Sewickley and Beaver, PA.
