Prolapsed Internal Hemorrhoids

To prolapse is to "fall forward or protrude."
Seen here is the external anal area where a large cluster of internal hemorrhoids have prolapsed from inside the rectum to the outside and are bleeding somewhat. Chronic constipation, straining with bowel movements, chronic diarrhea, pregnancy, and liver disease enhance hemorrhoid formation. Hemorrhoids never turn to cancer, but can cause symptoms such as itching, bleed, and can be quite painful. Hemorrhoids this severe usually require surgery.
