These are multiple gallstones that were removed from one patient during gallbladder surgery. Note their yellow-brown color which is typical for cholesterol gallstones, the most common type. Some gallstones are black and are usually made of bilirubin pigment.

Here is another patient who had only minor attacks, but four large gallstones. Also note their yellow-brown color which is typical for cholesterol gallstones, the most common type. This patient underwent laparoscopic gallbladder surgery on a Friday and was only in the hospital about 4 hours. She did quite well and back on her feet before the weekend was over and fully recovered within two weeks.
