What is a Nurse Practitioner?
A Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) is a registered nurse(RN) with advanced education and
clinical instruction. Nurse Practitioners are recognized nationally as expert health care providers
practicing under the guidelines of the State Nurse Practice Act. In addition to an RN license, a
Nurse Practitioner requires a second license permitting them to diagnose and treat patients, order
and perform diagnostic studies, and prescribe medications.
