Preoperative Area
Soon after arriving for a "scope" examination, our patients are greeted by our Registered Nurses and Medical Assistants who admit them to one of 4 preparation rooms in our Preoperative Area. Special soundproofing and heavy sliding glass doors allow complete privacy to our patients during the intake process. Here the patient is asked to change into a cloth surgical gown and routine vital signs are taken - temperature, pulse, and blood pressure. If sedation is to be given, the nurse will insert a thin catheter into an arm vein. After a preop interview with the physicians, the patients are then wheeled by stretcher into the operating room.
