Our physicians are all Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and in their subspecialty of Gastroenterology. We are also assisted by two highly qualified Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners. Our Nurses and Associates are trained in caring for those with digestive disorders and are dedicated to providing the highest quality of individualized care. All clinical staff members are trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). In addition to endoscopic services, which we provide at Three Rivers Endoscopy Center, our physicians also provide inpatient and outpatient services at Heritage Valley Health System Sewickley Campus and Ohio Valley General Hospital. We accept all insurances including UPMC, Allegheny Health Network, Aetna, United, Cigna, US Healthcare, etc
Robert D. Fusco, M.D.
A native of Western Pennsylvania, Dr. Robert Fusco was graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh. As an undergraduate, he was elected into membership of Phi Beta Kappa scholastic honor society. In 1973, he received his medical degree with honors, also from the University and was elected into Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society. His specialty training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology was at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina. He has been in practice at Sewickley since 1977. Dr. Fusco is board-certified both in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the Pennsylvania Society of Gastroenterology, and the American Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers.
He was formerly president of Sewickley Medical Association, a multi-specialty group and is now president of the Center for Digestive Health and Nutrition and Medical Director of Three Rivers Endoscopy Center. He is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Dr. Fusco is active on the staff of Heritage Valley Health System Sewickley Campus, Ohio Valley General Hospital and Three Rivers Endoscopy Center. He is a participating physician in Pennsylvania Blue Shield and Medicare. His practice is limited to Gastroenterology. He is married, has three children, seven grandchildren, and resides with his wife in Sewickley, PA.
Richard Kim, M.D.
Dr. Richard Kim was born in New York and received his B.S. degree in biology and psychology at Georgetown University in 1983. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1987. Dr. Kim completed his residency in Internal Medicine and his specialty training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he later served as chief Fellow. Following his training, Dr. Kim remained at the University as Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. During his faculty tenure at the University, Dr. Kim was named the Chief of Endoscopy, and later the Associate Chief of the GI section at the University Drive VA Medical Center. Through a grant from the NIH, Dr. Kim completed his Masters of Public Health degree in Epidemiology in 1997 from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health. His career has been distinguished by awards for excellence in clinical research by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology and the Glaxo Institute for Digestive Health. Dr. Kim was President of the Medical Staff at Heritage Valley Health System Sewickley Campus from 2010-2012.
Dr. Kim is a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and is certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is an active member of the American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the Pennsylvania Medical Society. Dr. Kim specializes in the esophageal disorders, gastroesophageal reflux disease, cancer of the GI tract, and Therapeutic Endoscopy including ERCP and Endoscopic Ultrasound. He is active on the staff of Heritage Valley Health System Sewickley Campus, Ohio Valley General Hospital and Three Rivers Endoscopy Center. He is a participating physician in Pennsylvania Blue Shield and Medicare. His practice is limited to Gastroenterology. Dr. Kim resides in Wexford with his wife and children.
Frank Kim, M.D.
Dr. Frank Kim (not to be confused with Dr. Richard Kim, his brother) comes to us from the Cleveland Clinic where he was Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine. He was also Therapeutic Endoscopist with the Ohio Permanente Medical Group in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Kim has also held teaching positions at the Washington Hospital Center and the George Washington University Medical Center, where he developed the Flexible Sigmoidoscopy Training Program to instruct medical residents about colon cancer screening.
Dr. Kim received his B.A. in 1980 from the Johns Hopkins University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his M.D. in 1984 at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and his Masters in Business Science at John Hopkins in 1996. He completed a fellowship in gastroenterology in 1989 at the University of Maryland and did post-graduate research in molecular genetics. He has published numerous articles about Helicobacter Pylori infection. Dr. Frank Kim is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Dr. Kim is active on the staff of Heritage Valley Health System Sewickley Campus, Ohio Valley General Hospital and Three Rivers Endoscopy Center. He is a participating physician in Pennsylvania Blue Shield and Medicare. His practice is limited to Gastroenterology. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and American Gastrointestinal Association.
James Pilla, D.O.
Dr. James Pilla is from the Pittsburgh area graduating from Bethel Park Senior High School in 1985. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in zoology at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio in 1989. He received his medical degree from Des Moines University in Iowa in 1994 and then completed a one year traditional rotating internship at Grandview Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Pilla then completed his residency in Internal Medicine at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 1998. From there he went on to subspecialty training at the University of Cincinnati where he completed a clinical gastroenterology fellowship in 2001.
Dr. Pilla is American Board of Internal Medicine certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American Medical Association. He is active on the staff of Heritage Valley Health System Sewickley Campus, Ohio Valley General Hospital and Three Rivers Endoscopy Center. He is a participating physician in Pennsylvania Blue Shield and Medicare. His practice is limited to Gastroenterology.
Dr. Pilla's clinical interests include esophageal disorders, GERD, peptic ulcer disease, celiac sprue, diagnosis and treatment of chronic liver disease and colon cancer screening. In his spare time, he enjoys playing soccer, snowboarding and is an avid sport and music fan.
Ernest Stanley, M.D.
Dr. Ernest Stanley graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada in 1982. He also attended that university's Medical School, graduating in 1986. A residency in Internal Medicine was then completed at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Stanley obtained his specialty training in Gastroenterology at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario - a center known for its research in inflammatory bowel disease. He was Chief Resident at McMaster from 1991-1992 and was awarded local and national scholarships for his research regarding the effects of inflammation in diseases of the intestines. Dr. Stanley is Board-Certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and distinguished himself in these exams by scoring in the top 2% of candidates nationwide. Recently, Dr. Stanley was recertified by the American Board of Internal Medicine by passing written examinations in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
Dr. Stanley is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, and the Pennsylvania Medical Society. He is active on the staff of Heritage Valley Health System Sewickley Campus, Ohio Valley General Hospital and Three Rivers Endoscopy Center. His special interests are inflammatory bowel disease and therapeutic hepatobiliary endoscopy (ERCP) and he is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Dr. Stanley resides in Sewickley with his wife and four children.
Lester E. Stine, M.D.
Dr. Lester E. Stine was born in the Pittsburgh area. He received his undergraduate degree in Human Biology from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He remained in Baltimore and received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins in 1986. Dr. Stine then completed an Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at the University Hospitals of Cleveland. He received the Charles Carpenter Award for Clinical Excellence as a Senior Resident. Dr. Stine's interest in liver disease took him to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center where he did his Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Dr. Stine is Board-Certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He scored in the top 10% of candidates taking the gastroenterology boards nationwide. He is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.

Dr. Stine's interests include liver disease, gastrointestinal tumors and therapeutic Endoscopy, including ERCP. In his leisure time, he enjoys golf, fishing, cooking and, most of all, spending time with his family.
Kathryn McParlane, CRNP
Kathryn McParlane was born in the Pittsburgh area. She graduated from Citizen General Hospital School of Nursing in 1979. She received her Bachelor's degree in Science and Nursing from LaRoche College in 1987 and her Master's degree in Nursing as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner from the University of Pittsburgh in 1998. She was elected into Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society. As a graduate student, she was awarded a graduate assistanceship on a research project with liver transplant patients.
Ms. McParlane is board certified as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. She is certified in Advance Cardiac Life Support. Ms. McParlane is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, The Southwestern Pennsylvania Nurse Practitioners, and the American Gastroenterology Association. She is co-chair on the Associate Medical Advisory Committee (AMAC) for the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Liver Foundation. Her medical interests include hepatitis C and general gastroenterology. In her leisure time, besides being a movie buff, she is interested in physical fitness, collecting art, and spending time with friends and family. She resides in Point Breeze with her husband and children.
Lisa Fadden, CRNP
Lisa Fadden was born in Pennsylvania. She attended Kent State University in Ohio and graduated with her undergraduate nursing degree in 1995. She received her Master's degree in Nursing as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner, from Carlow University in 2008. Lisa continued on her educational journey, earning her doctorate of nursing degree from Carlow University in 2011. Lisa was elected into Eta Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society. Lisa focused her doctoral dissertation on a quality improvement project at the hospital level, following patients who were diagnosed with the MRSA infection. Lisa's project proved through a follow-up protocol, the MRSA infection could be eradication without treatment. Lisa worked closely with Dr. Richard Kim on this project, as he was her physician committee member assigned to her project. Lisa is currently working on publication of her study.
Ms. Fadden is board certified as a nurse practitioner with her doctorate. She is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Lisa is also a professor at Carlow University and has a passion for teaching. While working on her doctoral degree, Lisa worked as a graduate assistant, teaching a nutrition course for three years. Lisa currently teaches health assessment, pharmacology, and anatomy & physiology at the undergraduate level. Lisa also works for Carlow as a Nurse Practitioner advisor and currently has 40 advisees. She loves this aspect of nursing and states earning her doctorate opened up a whole new world of opportunity. In her leisure time, besides her commitment to her family and students, she enjoys hiking, biking, tennis, traveling, and theater. Lisa resides in Sewickley, with her two children Lauren and Martin.
Throughout Lisa's nursing career, she has always worked in the hospital setting, stating this is her passion. Lisa started her career at The Medical Center Beaver, PA on the medical-surgical unit from 1995 to 1999. In 1999 she crossed trained to the GI lab where she began her first GI experience. In 2005 she moved to the Sewickley area and transferred to the Sewickley Valley Hospital's surgical and GI unit. Lisa continued as a surgical/GI nurse while pursuing her CRNP. While completing her graduate degree, Lisa was hired by West Penn Anesthesia as their Nurse Practitioner. Her duties as an anesthesia CRNP included; assessments of patients prior to surgery, obtaining a thorough history and physical, ordering of medications, assessment of in-house surgical and GI patients, and assessing and clearing patients for future surgical cases. Lisa has had a wide variety of experience with surgical candidates as well as GI patients throughout her nursing career as a RN, CRNP, and DNP. She is excited and looking forward to her new journey with The Center for Digestive Disease as their new Nurse Practitioner hospitalist.
Sara A. Parr, MS, RD, LDN
Sara Parr, M.S., R.D., L.D.N, is a registered dietitian who has been with us since 2008 helping our patients improve their health. Sara graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) with a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Food and Nutrition and also completed her internship through IUP.
She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics with membership in 3 dietetic practice groups: Dietitian’s in Nutrition Support, Medical Nutrition and Nutrition & Dietetic Educators of Preceptors. She was recently the Job Referral & Webmaster Chair for the Pittsburgh Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics and is member of both the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics and the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics. Since 1998, Sara has been the Inpatient Dietitian at Ohio Valley Hospital.
Registered Dietitian vs “Nutritionist”
A Registered Dietitian (RD) is a food and nutrition expert who has met the minimum academic and professional requirements to qualify for the credential There is no legal definition for the term nutritionist, so anyone can call himself or herself by that title. “Self-identified” nutritionists may have varying levels of education, and can be someone with little or no nutritional education or training.
Glenn Daugherty, CMPE
Glenn M. Daugherty has gained experience in the business/management field over the past 39 years to include: 7 years in private industry, 9 years in commercial real estate and finance with a major bank in Pittsburgh, and 23 years in health care administration. Glenn has been employed as Executive Director for the Center for Digestive Health and Nutrition since 1992. During that time, he and his partners developed Three Rivers Endoscopy Center, a Pennsylvania State licensed, Medicare certified, AAAHC accredited ambulatory surgery center, located in Moon Township, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Daugherty received his BS in Business Management from Point Park College. He holds the status of a Certified Medical Practice Executive with the American College of Medical Practice Executives and is pursuing his Fellowship status.
Colleen joined the Center for Digestive Health and Nutrition in June, 2002 after spending the previous nine years as a Solomon Software consultant. Taking the reigns as the Center’s Business Manager was natural given her knowledge and experience with the practice in her role as a consultant to the Executive Director and previous Business Manager. Colleen’s prior experience focused on the private sector where her responsibilities included the management of accounting and financial business matters. Ms. Jakubovic holds a degree in Accounting and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Managers (SHRM). In her role as Business Manager, Colleen also functions as the Center's Controller and Human Resources Manager.
Jennifer Zacharias joined the Center for Digestive Health & Nutrition in December 2003. During her first four years with the practice, Jennifer worked in various departments allowing her to obtain the required knowledge and expertise, which led to her current position as our Practice Manager. Jennifer graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1997, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing and a minor in Economics, and now lives in the Pittsburgh area with her husband and two children.

Jayme Moskovitz RN, BSN
ASC Nurse Manager
Jayme Moskovitz was born in the Pittsburgh area. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Duquesne University in 1999 where she was elected into Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society. Jayme has also obtained certification as a legal nurse consultant.
Jayme joined the Center for Digestive Health and Nutrition in 2000. She is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and is a member of The Society for Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates. The volume of required non-clinical paperwork has steadily increased in most physician's offices. Ours is no exception. Our Billing Manager, Lynn, and her staff of of six associates have the task of submitting the proper forms to obtain reimbursement for services rendered and to help you obtain any necessary preauthorization for special procedures. This means interfacing with numerous third party payers and their individual rules and requirements.
